Support & Care for Law Enforcement
Our Mission
Backing the Blue is a group of certified and trained Law Enforcement Chaplains based in San Diego, CA. However, we work alongside officers and departments across the country and around the world.
Many underestimate the responsibility and stress that is placed upon Police officers. They face the reality that every time they leave home for work, they may not return. The job is very taxing, both physically and emotionally. Moral is also at an all-time low among officers and departments. Sadly, many cities have cut budgets for policing, which is taking a toll on the officers and communities they serve. Increased hours, lack of resources, and discontinued programs that provided training and care for the officers. You then add a culture that is anti-police and a poor and, many times, false narrative pushed by the media. All of these weigh upon the men and women that daily choose to put their lives on the line.
They need to know that they are not alone!
What We Do
- Provide individual care for the officer
- We are trained in Critical Incident Counseling and debriefing
- We not only serve the individual officer, but also are a resource to entire departments
- We like to help bridge the gap between Law Enforcement and individuals within their communities. Humanizing the badge!
- Install commercial refrigerators at Law Enforcement Departments which we stock with snacks and beverages. All free of charge to the officers
- Where budgets may be cut, we at times will step in to help provide for the need
- Adopt different departments for Christmas and gift officers and staff with gift cards and presents
- Give out free gear to officers and departments
- Help provide opportunities of rest for officers and their families
- We ride-along with the officers to be a support and listening ear
- Host family days and carnivals for staff at various departments
